Web Services, Inspector 2.0, and the SESSION model: Vincenzo Mennano, FM.NEXUS

6:30 pm Networking - Refreshments and Music
7:00 pm to 10:00 pm - Meeting and Q & A

Web Services - What are Web Services, and what the heck is a WSDL, and how can FileMaker developers take advantage of them? Vince Menanno of FM::Nexus will demonstrate powerful Web Services available on demand across the Internet. He will show how easy it is to plug Web Services into a solution, starting with an example database talking to FedEx Shipping. Vince will also configure the ability to send SMS messages from inside FileMaker, implementing this in less than 5 minutes, with most of the heavy lifting done by a plug-in, a WSDL, and minimal coding.

Inspector 2.0 – How much extra time do you spend doing proper debugging, version merging, and proactive code cleanup? Not much, we all hope. Over the past 10 years, Vince Menanno has designed a series of tools to do these tasks, including the latest version of Inspector 2.0. Vince will give an overview of how to stay in control of your solution, save time and reduce headaches in debugging and optimization.

The SESSION model -- Last on the agenda, Vince will share the development template that he uses to start projects. He will talk about the merits and drawbacks of what he calls the SESSION model, and the benefits of this approach with code re-usability, UI objects, functional groupings, etc. Vince will also be asking for interest in making this template an open source project.

Vince will be also raffling off a free copy of Inspector 2.0 to an attendee. And a secret surprise only if you show up!
